The Making of a Medicine

This piece is about answering a call, and my journey of becoming a herbalist and astrologer. It is a deeply personal, autobiographical memoir blending herbalism, spirituality, psychology, astrology, ecology, psychedelics, and medicine making. In answering one’s call, there are often signs along the way that guides us. We just need to stop and listen, as well as have the courage to trust and follow them. In it are participatory prompts for the reader/listener

A Tribute To My Dad – “My Dad Was His Forests”

This piece is a tribute to my Dad. A month after he passed whilst out for a walk, I suddenly felt a very strong urge to stop and sit down where I was and record myself reading this tribute. And what happened while I was reading it aloud was a sort of undeniable confirmation of his presence. (Ignore the sounds of my dog’s foot steps as he continued to explore the area around where I was sitting.)

The Nature of the Patient-Herbalist Relationship

This piece was my final dissertation for my Master of Science degree in Herbal Medicine. In it I explored the nature of the relationship between patients and herbalists. A connective model emerged which was a unique therapeutic relationship model in the healthcare field. This research was concluded before the movement in the field shifted from doctor as the authority towards patient centred care.
