HERBAL FIELD EXPERIENCE Program - limited space - fills up fast and early!!!

Time: One weekend per month from May to October - Saturdays 10 am to 5pm & Sundays 9am to 4 pm.

2010 Dates: to announced soon!!!

Cost: $600 paid in full by May 1st (a deposit of $100 is required)

Accommodation: on site free camping (meals are not provided)

Program Description: 1 weekend per month intensive for 6 months; learning outcomes will focus on the practical hands on side of herbal medicine including wild crafting and harvesting herbs, edible wilds, herbal medicine preparations (Herbal Pharmacy), organoleptic pharmacology, plant identification, personal plant projects, group studies, and more!

Field Experience Certification will be granted from Dominion Herbal College upon successful completion of the program for those students with a Chartered Herbalist Certificate. This programs has also been accepted by Wild Rose College in fulfillment of their Herbal Pharmacy and Herbal Botany (70% or greater pass of final exam necessary).

Seminar series: BE YOUR OWN HERBALIST - New Classes Starting April 15th, 2010

Part I - How To Be Your Own Herbalist

12 three hour sessions

Date - April 15th, thursday evenings

Location: near Tillsonburg, ON

Time - 6:30 - 9:30pm

Includes introductory material medical, herbal and tissue energetics, therapeutics, patho/physiology, herbal pharmacy, organoleptic pharmacology, essential nutrition and more.

Part II - How To Be Your Family's Herbalist - starting March 17th!!!

8 three hour sessions

Dates - Wednesday evenings starting March 17th, 2010

Includes intermediate material medical, herbal and tissue/system energetics, therapeutics, patho/physiology, organoleptic pharmacology, case studies, and more.

Cost $240

Time - 7:00 - 10:00pm

INFECTIOUS DISEASES Workshop - New Date and Location!!!

Date: Sunday Janurary 31st. 2010- 9am to 5pm; with a 1/2 hour break for a brown bag lunch

This informative one day workshop will cover what herbs and foods one should keep on hand in the event of an infectious disease outbreak in your community. Prevention strategies, herbal therapies, as well as learning the lost art of the extremely effective mustard plasters, poultices, steam inhalations, etc. will be demonstrated.

Treating Peri-Menopause Naturally

Peri-menopause medicine is a nature process and should not be causing the stress and distress that it is. Underlying factors and body responses will be discussed to help an individual understand and then treat their own peri-menopausal symptoms.

Preventive medicine is managing the various stresses on the body and should be a part of everyone’s daily routine. Stress is the response to both positive and/or negative demands, to whatever degree, on the body.

Although it is necessary for normal daily functioning, it must be properly regulated keeping it within a healthy balance.

Much of the root causes of modern day’s dis-eases are caused from unregulated stress responses. Understanding the multiple levels and areas that signs and symptoms of stress can manifest as, is key to proper stress and life management.

Lifestyle, dietary and herbal recommendations are made. This very informative talk will help you understand and then act in accordance to what your body is saying about the everyday stresses that just living has on one’s life and body.

An old herbalist once said, "Learn 20 herbs, and learn them well, and you will be able to treat most of what crosses your path." The finer details and specific characteristics of the herbs will be discussed. HERBAL STUDENT CLINIC TRAINING - on-going

For students of herbal medicine that are requiring clinical hours for professional membership to a herbalist association. Physical examinations, herbal dispensing, case history taking, interviewing skills and supervised patient intakes are covered. Cost: $10 per hour.

HERBAL APPRENTICE - Part-time Position

I am looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person with a strong interest in nature and plants.

A successful applicant will:
· be an easy going and friendly person;
· have a strong desire to learn about herbal medicine;
· enjoy working in the elements;
· enjoy children;
· be committed and reliable for 2—3 days per week;
· have own transportation; and be physically able to work in herb gardens.

Learning will include, but not limited to::
· organic gardening;
· herbal material medical;
· herbal therapeutics;
· in-depth plant identification; and herbal medicine making.

This is a work exchange position.
